The
GIBSON Comic Awards have been created
in the memory & honour of Tony GIBSON,
founder of
Gotham
Comics, Auckland, and keen supporter
of the New Zealand Comic Community.
These awards were also created to celebrate
and promote comics, in particular NEW
ZEALAND COMICS, to New Zealand. This
is a chance for the New Zealand comic
fans to say what is popular in NZ and
to showcase the growing creative NZ
Comic Community, to the general public.
2005 - The First GIBSON Comic Awards
were held at the ARMAGEDDON EXPO (Oct
22-24) and was solely targeted at the
NZ Comic Community. We had an outstanding
turn out for the awards both in nominations
(listed below are the nominees &
winners) and attendance. The talent
showcased at the first GIBSON Comic
Awards was just the tip of the NZ Comic
Talent phenomena.
This year we have expanded the scope
to cover the general comic market and
the increasing NZ comic scene. So read
on and be part of the New Zealand Comic
Culture!
